Lithuania
Problem statement
Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense (MoND) possesses obsolete and unserviceable ammunition surpluses, which need to be demilitarized. Lack of national demilitarization capabilities required demilitarization to be conducted out of the country. Some limited demilitarization capabilities are needed for demilitarization of small amounts of ammunition and for regular ammunition maintenance and surveillance procedures.
What we do
Destruction of Surplus Weapons and Ammunition
ITF was provided with funds for assisting in disposal of obsolete and unserviceable ammunition surplus and to build national demilitarization capabilities. Ammunition surplus was demilitarized abroad using industrial capabilities by method of reverse engineering. An old military facility was repaired and furnished for the purpose of demilitarization activities and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and protection equipment was purchased by ITF.
