Visit to Superhumans Center in Lviv, Ukraine
On 15 November 2025, ITF, including ITF Director Ambassador Tomaž Lovrenčič, visited the Superhumans Center in Lviv, Ukraine, together with Dr. Aleš Musar, spouse of the President of Slovenia, and H.E. Mateja Prevolšek, Ambassador of Slovenia to Ukraine. The center provides specialized medical care, advanced prosthetics, and holistic rehabilitation to victims of Russian aggression on Ukraine who have sustained severe injuries, including those in need of limb amputations.
Superhumans Center is one of the very few facilities of its kind in Ukraine, offering life-changing support for survivors of conflict. Beyond urgent medical care, the center delivers comprehensive rehabilitation addressing both physical and psychological recovery, helping patients regain mobility, independence, and dignity. The impact extends beyond the individual: families and communities also benefit as survivors reclaim their ability to participate in daily life and social activities.
The ongoing ITF project at Superhumans is currently supported by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia through Slovenia Aid & Partnerships. Since 2024, ITF, with support from Slovenia and previously the Republic of Korea, has been assisting Superhumans in providing advanced prosthetics and holistic rehabilitation to victims of armed conflict. During ongoing hostilities, domestic resources are understandably diverted to other urgent needs, making international support essential to ensure that patients continue receiving rehabilitation services and advanced prosthetic care that would otherwise remain inaccessible.
During the visit, ITF representatives met with patients and the medical team led by Superhumans Center Director Ms. Olga Rudneva, learning about the complex medical and rehabilitative needs of survivors and observing innovative therapies in practice. The delegation also attended the inauguration of a new climbing wall, designed to complement physiotherapy and promote physical recovery.
This visit underscores the importance of long-term humanitarian support, international cooperation, and the human dimension of recovery. Superhumans Center exemplifies how rare but essential institutions can transform lives, restore dignity, and provide hope to survivors of conflict. ITF extends its sincere gratitude to all donors whose continued support makes this work possible, ensuring that both individuals and their communities can rebuild and recover despite the ongoing challenges of conflict.
