Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska Joins the 53rd ITF Board of Advisors Session

The 53rd ITF Board of Advisors (BoA) session, held at the Presidential Palace in Ljubljana on November 19, 2024, brought together key stakeholders and donors to discuss shared priorities, with a focus on victim assistance and mine action in Ukraine. Hosted by the President of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, and her spouse, Dr. Aleš Musar, the event highlighted Slovenia’s commitment to addressing global humanitarian challenges.
Chaired by the Ambassador of France to Slovenia, Ms. Florence Levy, the session included representatives from ITF donor countries and project partners. They reviewed progress, shared priorities, and discussed critical issues, with a significant focus on Ukraine.
A special guest, Ukraine’s First Lady Madam Olena Zelenska, was invited by Dr. Aleš Musar. Accompanied by First Deputy Prime Minister Ms. Yulia Svyrydenko, Madam Zelenska emphasized the devastating toll of war on civilians, especially children, and the urgent need for victim assistance and mine action in Ukraine. She presented the work of the Foundation of Olena Zelenska, which focuses on psychosocial support and mental health initiatives.
ITF Director, Amb. Tomaž Lovrenčič, led a review of the Intermediate 2024 Report, which highlighted key achievements from January to July 2024 and outlined the goals for Portfolio of Projects 2025. This discussion emphasized the need for continued efforts to safeguard lives, rebuild communities, and provide hope to those affected by conflict, particularly in Ukraine, where the humanitarian needs remain urgent.
Representatives from Germany, Kuwait, Qatar, the Republic of Korea, United Kingdom, and the United States reaffirmed their commitment to ITF’s mission, highlighting the critical role of global solidarity in addressing urgent humanitarian needs. ITF’s work around the world is made possible by the steadfast support of its donors and partners, to whom ITF expresses its deepest gratitude for their continued support and dedication.
As the session concluded, there was a strong, collective commitment to tackling humanitarian challenges, supporting victims, and rebuilding lives. Together, we move forward to ensure that no one is left behind.
