Trainings for Georgian personnel in Azerbaijan
As a part of the initiative of the Government of Azerbaijan on provision of humanitarian mine action assistance to Georgia and with the support of ITF donor community 17 personnel from the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia will receive the humanitarian demining training at the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action Goygol Regional Training Base in period 20 July - 21 August 2009.
ITF and ANAMA based on their previous experience in cooperation on mine action activities in Azerbaijan expressed their wish to jointly implement the project on provision of mine action training support to the Republic of Georgia. ANAMA and ITF joint cooperation will complement and reinforce the efforts of the Government of Azerbaijan's initiative on provision of non-military support to Georgia as well as ITF donor community - Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovenia - to assist Georgia in building the national capacity to address the mine problem. The contribution of the Government of Azerbaijan constitutes 87% and contributions of ITF donor community covers 13% out of the total project budget.
This joint project will allow to further extend the mine action cooperation between ANAMA and ITF on a regional level, thus reinforced their commitment and partnership in their regional mine action related endeavours in the South Caucuses region and wider.
