Training for Colombian rehabilitation specialists
ITF has in cooperation with URI-Soča, successfully provided second specialized training on rehabilitation services for mine victims for one multidisciplinary rehabilitation team from Colombia.
International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) has in cooperation with the University Rehabilitation Institute Republic of Slovenia (URI-So?a), successfully provided a specialized training on rehabilitation services for mine victims in period 23 May – 03 June 2011 for one multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, consisting of a physician, therapist and technician, from REI Foundation based in Bolivar Department, Colombia where the enhancement of local rehabilitation capacities is of paramount importance.
This specialized training presents second phase of the project that is supported by the Republic of Slovenia and aims to provide effective rehabilitation treatment of mine survivors and enhance the long-term capacity of Colombian rehabilitation institutions.
At the end of this year ITF will organize national workshop in Colombia in cooperation with URI-So?a and Presidential Programme for Integrated Mine Action, Republic of Colombia (PAICMA) where relevant stakeholders and rehabilitation institutions from whole country will address the difficulties of the implementation of Mine Victims Assistance and receive 3-5 days long training through workshop. In addition, the workshop will also provide an opportunity to evaluate the results of both trainings held at the URI-So?a and to set framework for future cooperation between PAICMA, ITF and relevant partners in Colombia.
