The ninth group of Gaza children at University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia
On 24 September 2012, the ninth group of 10 children from Gaza arrived for the rehabilitation at the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (URI Soča).

On 24 September 2012, the ninth group of 10 children from Gaza arrived for the rehabilitation at the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (URI So?a). Children were accompanied by three physiotherapists who also arrived at URI So?a for on-the-job training.
ITF is implementing the “Gaza project” in cooperation with the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (URI So?a) and includes physical and mental rehabilitation of children/victims of conflict from Gaza and local/national capacity building in the field of rehabilitation.
Project is being implemented under the initiative of the President of Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Danilo Türk and was initially launched at the end of January 2009. Thus far, 90 children from Gaza were rehabilitated and 15 physiotherapists received training at URI So?a. Beside Slovenian government the project is also supported by Mr. Amre Moussa (Arab League Secretary General), Capt. Mohammad Al-Khashman (Jordan Aviation Group), Czech Republic, Korea, Qatar, Rotary Club Portorož, KFB Holding Group, Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), United States of America, Petrol, Airport Ljubljana, Opec Fund for International Development (OFID), Principality of Monaco and the Danilo Türk Foundation “Pustimo jim sanje”.
ITF would like to express gratitude to the Slovenian Embassy in Cairo for logistics support offered during the transportation of Gaza children through Egypt to Slovenia and for help offered during visa issuance procedures.
Children and physiotherapists will be staying at URI So?a until 21 October 2012.
