Tajikistan rehabilitation specialists visited ITF

The representatives of Tajikistan rehabilitation institutions visited ITF headquarters at Ig, Slovenia. Fruitful discussions tackled among other the issue of Tajikistan requirements in the rehabilitation trainings, especially in addressing the rehabilitation needs of mine survivors. The visit was carried out within the rehabilitation training implemented at the Institute for Rehabilitation of the Republic of Slovenia funded through ITF by the Slovenia.

The delegation consisted of the following members: Mr Kuvvatov, MD, surgeon, head of Tajikistan Scientific-research Institute of Examination and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, Mr Akhmedov, MD, Tajikistan Ministry of Health - responsible for personnel selection, methodological approaches to rehabilitation of disabled persons, creation and development of services of professional rehabilitation, and Ms Muminova, MD, Victims Assistance Officer at Tajikistan Mine Action Centre.

With ITF regional rehabilitation training program for South Caucasus and Central Asia ITF strives to transfer the know-how and skills in the field of mine victims’ assistance to mine affected countries in above mentioned regions in order for them to be able to cope with mine problem more effectively and on a sustainable basis.
