'School and Peer Mediation' Continues in Gračanica and Derventa

In the last week of September 2019, three different trainings were implemented within the Project activities ‘School and Peer mediation in BIH’, financially supported by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Slovenia (Slovenia’s Development Cooperation). ITF project manager joined the trainings for a monitoring visit in Gračanica and Derventa.
Between 23 and 27 September, 12 teachers from four different schools joined the training for school mediators in Derventa, under the supervision of mediation expert from Institute for mediation Concordia. Teachers were introduced with the concept of mediation and peaceful dispute resolution. With the equipped knowledge, teachers are prepared to implement mediation among their peers. School and peer mediation will serve them as a conflict prevention and conflict resolution mechanism. This is implemented among the peer relations, teacher-peer and teacher-parents, which provides a more healthy and prosperous environment for their future development. Training was also implemented by a co-trainer Snežana, who joined the project in its pilot phase in 2017 as one of the first trainees.
Another 5-day training was implemented in Gračanica at primary school Hasan Kikić for 17 teachers from seven schools between 25 and 29 September. The theoretical aspects of school and peer mediation were covered by three co-trainers Mujo, Almira and Mubera, who as Snežana are working with ITF since 2017. Mediation expert Radovan, who offered guidance, practical knowledge and tips to future school mediators, supervised the implementation of project activities in Gračanica.
ITF concluded its monitoring visit with the participation at the 2nd part of Train the trainer workshop. 17 teachers, school mediators in previous phase of the project, successfully finished train the trainer course, which prepares them to independently implement and teach mediation skills to other teacher.
