Rehabilitation of Victims in Lebanon

It is known that landmines only have killed 898 and injured additional 2,945 people in Lebanon since the 1975. Moreover, between August 2006 and June 2015, cluster munitions alone have killed 56 and injured 404 people. Until today, due to a lack of funding, less than 75 survivors received prosthesis and/or were trained on income generation projects.
In August 2015, ITF has in cooperation with the Landmines Resource Center at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Balamand (LMRC) initiated a victim assistance project, funded by the Republic of Turkey. Based on developed criteria, Lebanon Mine Action Centre (LMAC) has selected 5 victims of landmines/cluster munitions in Lebanon that received new high quality prosthesis, while the project enabled a repair of the prosthesis for sixth victim as well. The increased mobility and self-esteem will enable smoother reintegration process.
