Regional Initiative in Central Asia Publicly Presented
OSCE Office in Tajikistan together with ITF presented a joint ventured initiative on regional cooperation in Central Asia on the Dushanbe Workshop on Achieving a Mine-Free Central Asia held in period 7-8 July in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
ITF was selected by OSCE Office in Tajikistan as an implementing partner for the project »Facilitation of Central Asian Regional Cooperation in Mine Action« in period April-November 2009. ITF presented pragmatic approach to regional cooperation during the workshop. This kind of regional approach in Central Asia has been widely and openly recognized and supported on the Workshop by Kyrgyzstan as well as Tajikistan authority representatives as well as the representative from Afghanistan national Mine Action Centre.
ITF aims together with the OSCE Office in Tajikistan that the concept of the Central Asian Mine Action Coordination Council will be endorsed by the national authorities in Central Asia including Afghanistan. The regional cooperation will greatly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness to address both cross-national as well as national mine problem issues.
