Not only lectures: the Virtual Education Program in Cape Verde gets better structured

On Friday, January 31st, 2014, the Virtual Education Program in Cape Verde underwent towards an extremely positive development. On the occasion of his visit to Cape Verde, the IVeH President and the Director of the Integrated Telemedicine and e-Health Program of Cape Verde (ITeHP-CV), Prof. Rifat Latifi co-directed a virtual meeting of tens of doctors attending from all around Cape Verde. Other co-hosts of the meeting were Dr. Vanda Azevedo, Clinical Director of ITeHP-CV and Dr. Maurizio Reverdes, Intensive Care Physician at the Hospital Dr. Agostinho Neto (HAN). The purpose of the meeting was to brainstorm on the best form of organization of a virtual education program aiming at increasing the knowledge and skills of doctors in Cape Verde to better provide intensive and trauma care to their patients. The program will be structured in a form of 10 lectures delivered by both international and Cabo Verdean experts. “All the participants who will follow the lectures of this program and will successfully complete the relevant test will receive an official certificate that will recognize their participation in the course”, promised Dr. Azevedo. Prof. Latifi acknowledged that organizing a virtual course on medical emergencies and trauma “… marks two important upgrades of the virtual education program in Cape Verde. First, we do not deliver only single lectures, but also well-structured continuous medical education programs and, second, this represents a serious collaboration effort where international and Cabo Verdean experts join forces to deliver training to the colleagues from all islands”. The 10 lectures will be delivered over a 3 month period and, upon successful accomplishment, the participants will receive attendance certificates.
The Integrated Telemedice and e-Health Program for the Republic of Cape Verde is funded by the Republic of Slovenia through ITF Enhancing Human Security and implemented by Internaitonal Virtual e-Hospital Foundation.
