New ITF Managing Board president appointed

The 48th regular session of the ITF Managing Board was held on October 23, 2013 at ITF Headquarters. The session was attended by seven members - representatives of governments from Slovenia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia. At the constitutive session members elected the new ITF Managing Board leadership. Ambassador Mrs.Dragoljuba Benčina, Director-General of the Directorate for Global Issues and Multilateral Political Relations was elected as the new president of the ITF Managing Board.
Ambassador Benčina built her career primarily in the field of international relations. In 1994 Mrs. Benčina was appointed as advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, the following year as Secretary-General Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and in 1996 as National Coordinator for the Central European Initiative and as Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia. From 1997 to 2000 Mrs. Benčina occupied the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to Sweden, accredited to Finland, Latvia and Estonia and until year 2000 to Norway, Lithuania, Denmark and Iceland; from 2004 to 2008 Mrs. Benčina occupied the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia in FR Germany; from 2008 to 2012 Mrs. Benčina was the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.
Mr. Zoran Klemenčič, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia was appointed as her deputy.
New members of the Managing Board were acquainted with ITF work and ITF activities for the first half of 2013 and adopted a portfolio of programs and projects for 2014. The portfolio of programs and projects will be presented to the members of the Advisory Committee during the 31st regular session of the ITF Advisory Board which is scheduled for November 12th, 2013.
