Memorandum of Understanding signed with Lebanese Mine Action Centre

On 28 November, 2012 ITF Enhancing Human Security has signed Memorandum of Understanding with Lebanese Mine Action Center (LMAC). ITF has established an excellent relationship and cooperation with LMAC and is obtaining a partnership status to continue to fundraise for and facilitate/implement cluster munitions and explosive remnants of war clearance in Lebanon in accordance with Lebanon Mine Action Strategy (2011 – 2020) and tasking by the LMAC as national authority for mine action.
ITF has been involved in supporting Mine and Cluster Munitions clearance in Lebanon since late 2009 and is, in cooperation with the INGO’s DanChurchAid (DCA), Federation de Deminage Suisse (FSD), Handicap International (HI) and Norwegian Peoples Aid (NPA), implementing projects of mine, cluster munitions and other ERW clearance as well as victim’s assistance.
Key aspect of ITF involvement in mine action in Lebanon is fundraising for mine action operations, cooperation and support to national mine action authority, project and financial management and monitoring of mine action activities funded through ITF. The programs have been financially endorsed by Cyprus, Germany, Spain, United States of America and UNMAS (United Nations Mine Action Service) whom ITF sincerely thanks for their trust and contribution
