On August 23 the Director of ITF-Enhancing Human Security Mr. Dorijan Marši? and Croatian Deputy Defense Minister Mrs. Višnja Tafra signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation (MOC) in the field of demilitarization and destruction of obsolete conventional ammunition and explosive devices.
The Memorandum that was signed on the premises of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Croatia in Zagreb, Croatia defines the area of cooperation in the field of demilitarization and destruction of obsolete conventional ammunition and explosive devices as well as in the field of improvement of the conditions of storage and inventory management of live ammunition in Croatia.
With the donation in the amount of 1,5 mio US$ - secured through the Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs - some 4.000 tons of obsolete conventional ammunition and explosive devices will be safely demilitarized and destroyed in Croatia, consequently providing better safety conditions for the inhabitants of Croatia and general environment.
