ITF Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Montenegro
The signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) officially establishes the already existing long-term cooperation between ITF and the government of Montenegro. Amb Lovrenčič was pleased about the signing of MoU, which in his view brings positive changes for social, ecological and economic elements of Montenegrin citizens and their environment. General Director of the Directorate of Emergency Management at the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro Mr Mulić stated that the signed document will in the next two years allow the implementation of activities of conventional weapons destruction and physical security and stockpile management.

ITF has been active in Montenegro since 2002, as the country faces issues of unexploded ordnance on its border with Croatia and in municipalities of Plav and Rožaje. Excess of unstable ammunition, contamination from unexploded sub-munitions and underwater explosive remnants of WW II located off shore are the urgent areas, where Montenegro will need assistance in the future. With the signed MoU ITF and Montenegro will continue with the successful cooperation, creating a safer environment in which positive development is enabled.
