ITF Participates at the 3rd Meeting of the EU Trust Fund for Colombia Operational Committee in Bogota
The EU and Colombia enjoy a strong partnership built on political, economic efforts and commitment to peace. The EU provided valuable financial support towards the Colombian peace process through the EU Trust Fund for Colombia, which was established in December 2016. Through the Trust Fund 19 of its member states (Slovenia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Slovakia) contributed nearly 95 million EUR for the implementation of the activities related to the Peace Agreement during the peace building process.
The main mission of the EU Trust Fund is to support the implementation of the peace agreement in the early recovery phase and to achieve stabilization in the post-conflict era. The priority remains on rural areas, which have been disproportionately affected by the conflict.
During the 3rd meeting of the EU Trust Fund for Colombia held at the EU Delegation in Bogota, Colombia members and observers exchanged views on the course of peace implementation process, discussed pending post-conflict projects and identified new priorities and defined the timetable for concept notes proposals. ITF presented its activities and plans in the field of mine action projects in Colombia. During the meeting PDET was also discussed (PDET-instrument aimed for planning actions in the departmental, district and municipal administrations established through the Peace Agreement).
