ITF Opens Its Office in Colombia

In 2017, ITF registered its temporary implementation office in Bogota, Colombia. The office will establish the daily presence of ITF in Colombia and will be involved in development, monitoring and implementation of various projects, coordinating work between various stakeholders responsible for demining as well as the donor community.
The continuous field presence of ITF in Colombia is crucial for the daily communication with the mine action community and the local authorities, specifically DAICMA, and enables faster identification of challenges and problems, while finding a common solution on how to address them.
During the meetings, DAICMA representatives expressed their gratitude to the Republic of Slovenia and ITF for their efforts to provide assistance and achieve the goal – Colombia to reach a Mine Free Status by 2021, and for encouraging other donors to actively involve and contribute to demining in Colombia. According to the DAICMA assessment, the mine problem of Colombia can be resolved by 2021, taking into account sufficient financial and technical support from donors.
ITF Temporary Implementation Office in Colombia is financially supported by the Republic of Slovenia.
