ITF Board of Advisors field visit
On 17 May 2011 ITF organized a field visit for the members of the ITF Board of Advisors (BoA).To that end, they visited Croatia which is one of the most mine contaminated countries in the region of South East Europe.
On 17 May 2011 ITF organized a field visit to Croatia for the members of the ITF Board of Advisors (BoA).To that end, they visited Croatia which is one of the most mine contaminated countries in the region of South East Europe and for which donors have devoted substantial resources for demining ever since ITF started implementing demining activities in Croatia. More than 67 million USD have been allocated for mine action projects in Croatia since 1999 with close to 30 million square meters of mine contaminated area cleared through demining projects. The US Department of State remains the biggest donor of funds for mine action related activities in Croatia.
The ITF BoA delegation was greeted by the Karlovac County Prefect Mr Ivan Vu?i?, CROMAC director Mr Zdravko Modrušan and Mrs ?ur?a Adleši?, Croatian member of the ITF Managing board .
Manual and mechanical demining methods were demonstrated in detail to the members of the Board of Advisors and representatives of Slovenian and Croatian Media on demining project site in Josipdol in Karlovac County. The members of the BoA also met with representatives of the local authorities and residents that live under the threat of mines on a daily basis.

Mine risk education theater play "No, no mines ..." staged by theater DASKA was presented following the project site visit. The play has been already performed more than 60 times throughout Croatia reaching an audience of 7.800 primary school pupils. The play has been staged with the help and in cooperation with ITF, Croatian Mine Action Center (CROMAC), the Croatian Red Cross and funds provided by the U.S. Department of State.
