ITF Being Successful in Providing Support to Libya

On December 01, 2011 a group of 22 Libyan nationals injured in the recent armed conflict in Libya arrived to Slovenia in order to receive comprehensive rehabilitation care that will be implemented by the University Rehabilitation Institute of Slovenia (URI So?a) through ITF. The rehabilitation care at URI So?a is necessary as adequate medical treatment is currently unavailable in Libya. The group of patients arrived to Slovenia as a result of a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between ITF and Libyan National Transitional Council and with the donation provided by the Libyan Ministry of Health.
Patients will be receiving comprehensive rehabilitation treatment at URI So?a and Laško Spa with program that will be implemented and coordinated under strict supervision of rehabilitation experts from URI So?a.
ITF has gained trust from the donor community and the Libyan government through its long lasting and successful work in the field of victim’s assistance. The arrival of the first group of patients signifies just the beginning of cooperation between ITF and Libya. In addition to rehabilitation treatment of war victims in Slovenia, ITF will provide in cooperation with URI So?a and the donor community direct assistance to Libya through provision of physiotherapy teams to Tripoli, Misrata and Benghazi hospitals and through capacity building of rehabilitation capacities in Libya, with activities starting already this year.
