ITF at MineBanIM and NDMUN26
The Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention 2023 Intersessional Meetings (MineBanIM) brought together delegates from various countries, international organizations, and NGOs dedicated to achieving a world free of anti-personnel mines. Shortly after, the 26th International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors and United Nations Advisers (NDMUN26) gathered key stakeholders to discuss progress and challenges in mine action, including crosscutting issues like climate, environment, and innovation. These meetings provided crucial opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and partnerships among experts in the field.

During MineBanIM on June 20th, ITF participated in the Panel on Mine Victim Assistance, sharing insights on good practices in mental health and psychological support based on numerous projects implemented in over 10 countries, which you can watch down below. The following day, at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Slovenia, ITF Director and Mr. Dahir Abdirahman Abdulle, the National Director General of the Somali Explosive Management Authority (SEMA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation between ITF and the Government of Somalia in the field of Mine Action.
Throughout NDM26, ITF engaged in bilateral meetings to discuss project implementations in various countries. Collaborative discussions took place with organizations including the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), representatives of the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), National Mine Action Authorities/Centers, NGOs and the donors of the ongoing projects.
On June 22nd, a significant step was taken at the Slovenian mission in Geneva, where ITF and the Afghan NGO MDC signed an agreement that will enable the Republic of Slovenia to continue providing support to the MDC Health Center. This support aims to deliver essential medical services to the most vulnerable citizens of Kabul.
Both meetings served as valuable platforms for exchanging ideas, fostering collaboration, and strengthening partnerships in the field of mine action.
