International Telemedicine and e-Health Training for leadership personnel from Cape Verde
Telemedicine and e-health leadership training has continued within Phase 2 of the Integrated Telemedicine and e-Health Program for Cape Verde in year 2013, when continuous leadership training was provided for two groups of selected doctors, nurses and administrative personnel representing each of the 10 institutions involved in the telemedicine network of Cape Verde. They are anticipated to run the program in their country on behalf of Ministry of Health Cape Verde and individual respective institutions.
In April 2013, altogether 26 leadership personnel from Cape Verde received a week-long theoretical and hands-on training at Telemedicine Centers in Albania and Kosovo** in the field of telemedicine, e-health and electronic medical library. For both groups, one particularly important activity was the elaboration of clinical telemedicine programs in response to actual needs of Cape Verde. The doctors and nurses were divided into several groups with each developing an individual clinical telemedicine project. Such projects were elaborated in the fields of Tele-cardiology, Tele-dermatology, Tele-dentistry, Tele-trauma, Tele-radiology and Tele-obstetrics and will form the basis for the development of clinical telemedicine in the context of ITeHP-CV.
The integrated Telemedicine and e-Health Program falls under Development Cooperation Program agreed between Republic of Cape Verde and Republic of Slovenia that provided financial resources for its implementation. Program is being implemented since 2012 through ITF Enhancing Human Security by International Virtual e-Hospital Foundation and close cooperation with the Ministry of Health Cape Verde.
