Human Rights Day

“Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person” (Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 3).

Danger of landmines and explosive remnants of war constitutes a direct threat to human lives, but also has broader and long term consequences on human security. Right to appropriate medical treatment, right to education, right to development, child rights, rights of persons with disabilities, freedom of movement and right from fear are just a few in a wide array human rights that are being denied on a daily basis and that ITF is tirelessly working to address.

Mine-affected areas are preventing people from raising cattle or cultivating fields, which are in many cases the main sources of income for their families. War atrocities have severe psychosocial implications for the civilian population, especially children. Due to the lacking state mechanisms in times of crises, humanitarian action and support for the victims are of vital importance. We strongly believe that through partnership and close cooperation we can support the areas affected in their post-conflict reconstruction and strengthen human rights protection.
