First Japan donation for Croatia through ITF
ITF and the Embassy of Japan in Zagreb, Croatia signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the first Japan donation for Croatia through ITF in the amount of 80.000 Euro for demining of agricultural land in the town of Pakrac in Požega Slavonija County.
ITF Enhancing Human Security signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Embassy of Japan in Zagreb, Croatia in the amount of 80,000 Euro. The MoU was signed at the Embassy of Japan in Zagreb, Croatia on 28 March, 2012 by H.E. Mr. Masaru Tsuji, Ambassador of Japan and Mr. Dorijan Marši?, ITF director. This is the first donation from Japan through ITF for Croatia. The donation will be matched with funds provided by the US and will be used for demining arable land and orchards in Donja Subocka in town of Pakrac in Požega Slavonija County.
Representatives from the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the County Prefect of Požega Slavonia County, Mayor of the City of Lipik and the Director of Croatian Mine Action Centre attended the Official ceremony of signing the Grant contract in Japan Embassy in Zagreb.
In this project, the Government of Japan will make the best use of ITF „matching fund mechanism“, where the original donation of 80,000 Euro will be matched and allocated with the Japanese grant for demining of the agricultural land. Consequently an area of 110.000 sq.meters of land will be cleared in the area of town of Pakrac.
