Field Visit with Irish Ambassador

Demining is seldom an end to itself. This time, with funds provided by Ireland, ITF has been making an important contribution towards post-conflict reconciliation, supporting mine clearance of a site where missing persons' remains from the recent war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) are presumably located. Once the works are concluded, the Missing Persons Institute of BiH will be able to carry out its tasks.
To mark the importance of Irish support for this type of projects, ITF took Ambassador of Ireland to Slovenia and BiH, Seán O’Regan, to visit the worksite in the Municipality of Sapna in Tuzla Canton.
During the visit, Ambassador O’Regan familiarized himself with the process of mine/explosive remnants of war clearance as well as with the great needs that exist in Bosnia and Herzegovina in this regard. Specifically, Ambassador O’Regan was also able to meet with the representatives of the Missing Persons Institute of BiH that emphasized the importance of demining for their efforts and reconciliation in BiH.
ITF is grateful to Ireland for recognizing and supporting ITF’s mission of promoting enhanced human security in countries affected by landmines/ERW.
