Austria donated more than 340.000 Euro for mine clearance activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. in the district of Br?ko and Unsko-sanski canton. The donation will clear more than 200.000 square meters of high priority mine-contaminated areas. The donation agreement was signed today at the Austrian Embassy between the Austrian Ambassador, H.E. dr. Ferdinand Mayrhofer-Grünbühel and ITF director, Jernej Cimpersek.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is still the most mine-affected country in the region of South-East Europe with more than 2000 square kilometers of suspected mine-contaminated land. Thus this donation will contribute to the aim of clearing Bosnia and Herzegovina of mines by year 2010.
