During the 56th Session ITF Managing Board appointed Ambassador Tomaž Lovrenčič as the new Acting Director.

As of 1 November 2017, Ambassador Tomaž Lovrenčič assumed the role of ITF Acting Director

At its 56th regular Session, ITF Managing Board discussed current issues related to ITF operations. The members of the Board took note of the Intermediate Report on the work of ITF for the period January-June 2017 and the Portfolio of Projects for 2018.

At the same time, they also adopted a decision that as of 1 November 2017, Ambassador Tomaž Lovrenčič will assume the role of ITF Acting Director. Sabina Beber Boštjančič, long-time ITF Deputy Director, who also performed tasks of ITF Acting Director in the interim period, continues to perform her current function as ITF Deputy Director.

Ambassador Lovrenčič received a Master’s Degree from Georgetown University. During his career, he took on a variety of positions in the fields of diplomacy, international, and public affairs. Among other roles, he served as the Director of the Slovenian Intelligence and Security Agency, Director of the European Union Satellite Centre in Spain and most recently as the Slovenian National Representative in the EU Facility for Refugees in Turkey.

Na 56. seji je Upravni odbor ITF kot novega vršilca dolžnosti direktorja imenoval veleposlanika Tomaža Lovrenčiča.

Upravni odbor ITF je na svoji 56. redni seji obravnaval tekoče zadeve, povezane z delovanjem ITF. Člani odbora so se seznanili z vmesnim poročilom o delu ITF za leto 2017 in z načrtom projektov za leto 2018.

Ob tem so sprejeli tudi sklep, da s 1. novembrom 2017 vodenje ITF kot vršilec dolžnosti direktorja prevzame veleposlanik Tomaž Lovrenčič. Sabina Beber Boštjančič, dolgoletna namestnica direktorja ITF, ki je v prehodnem obdobju opravljala tudi naloge v. d. direktorja ITF, nadaljuje z opravljanjem svoje dosedanje funkcije namestnice direktorja.

Veleposlanik Lovrenčič je magistriral na ameriški univerzi Georgetown in je v dosedanji karieri opravljal številne funkcije s področja diplomacije, mednarodnih in javnih odnosov. Med drugim je vodil Slovensko obveščevalno in varnostno agencijo, Satelitski center Evropske unije v Španiji, in predstavljal Slovenijo v instrumentu EU za begunce v Turčiji.
