30th SEEMACC meeting held in Vodice, Croatia
The 30th SEEMACC (South-Eastern Europe Mine Action Coordination Council) working meeting, was held on May 4th in Vodice, Croatia. It gathered regional stakeholders dedicated to advancing mine action efforts in the region, including representatives from ITF, BHMAC, CTRO Croatia, Protection and Rescue Directorate of North Macedonia, MDDC Sarajevo, MAC Serbia, CROMAC and Mine Action Agency of Azerbaijan.
The primary objective of the meeting was to advance mine action efforts in the region. During the event, attendees presented their accomplishments since the previous meeting and shared their plans for 2023. One notable highlight was the emphasis on joint regional cooperation between North Macedonia and Serbia, specifically addressing the detection of aerial bombs left over from past conflicts. Additionally, an open discussion took place, focusing on cross-border projects and solutions to challenges faced by regional mine action centers/institutions.
The 30th SEEMAC working meeting demonstrated the collective dedication of regional stakeholders in advancing mine action in South-Eastern Europe, highlighting their commitment to cooperation, and finding effective solutions. These efforts contribute to a safer and mine-free future for the affected communities in the region.
