15th Czech Republic donation to the ITF
ITF has received the fifteenth donation from the Czech Republic in the amount of 76.133 EUR (2 million CZK). Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by H.E. Mr Peter Voznica, Czech Ambassador to Slovenia, and Mr Goran Ga?nik, Director of the ITF on 14 November 2009 at the Czech Embassy in Ljubljana.
The donation will enable demining of 56.000 square meters of mine contaminated land in the Community Lapore located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Cleared area will be again used for agriculture, by local inhabitants.
Czech Republic is one of regular supporters of the ITF. Since the establishment of the ITF in 1998, Czech Republic has contributed on annual basis, its total contributions reaching 1.050.000 EUR.
The contributions were mainly used for demining activities and mine victims assistance in SE Europe, notably in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, UNMIK/Kosovo* and Serbia. In 2008, the Czech Republic contribution also supported ITF projects outside SE Europe, namely in Georgia where the establishment of national structure for mine action is being supported.
