The 10th group of Gaza children\young adults at URI SOCA

On 18 November 2013, the tenth group of 6 children/young adults from Gaza arrived for the rehabilitation at the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (URI Soča). Children / young adults were accompanied by three companions (mothers) and two physiotherapists who arrived at URI Soča for on-the-job training.
Project is being implemented under the initiative of the former President of Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Danilo Türk and was initially launched at the end of January 2009. Thus far, 100 children from Gaza were rehabilitated and 18 physiotherapists received training at URI Soča. The tenth group is being supported by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia (Directorate for International Development and Humanitarian Assistance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Opec Fund for International Development (OFID) and Republic of Korea.
ITF is implementing the “Gaza project” in cooperation with the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (URI Soča) and includes physical and mental rehabilitation of children/young adults victims of conflict from Gaza and local/national capacity building in the field of rehabilitation.
ITF would like to express gratitude to the Slovenian Embassy in Tel Aviv and Representative Office of RS
to the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah for logistics support offered during the transport of Gaza children through Israel to Slovenia and for help offered during visa issuance procedures.
Children/young adults and physiotherapists will stay at URI Soča until 14 December 2013.
