Regional workshop in the field of Mine Victim Assistance
A one-day workshop, titled »South-Eastern Europe Regional Pool of Experts in the field of Mine Victims Assistance: Review of Activities and Possibilities for further Engagement in other Mine Affected Regions« was held on 21th of September 2008 in Portoroz, Slovenia. The workshop was organized by the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) together with the Institute for Rehabilitation Republic of Slovenia (IRRS).
The workshop was attended by 26 participants. The rehabilitation professionals came from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*/UNMIK, Serbia, Macedonia, Tajikistan, Albania, Georgia and from Slovenia. Additionally, two international organizations ICRC and ISPO participated at the workshop. The workshop provided a fertile ground for the exchange of information and experiences in the field of rehabilitation systems and trainings in the SE region and wider between the relevant stakeholders. Moreover, the idea of Pool of Professionals/Experts in the area of mine victim assistance was presented by ITF and was approved by the participants. These professionals/experts would be utilized in training, technical assistance, evaluations and other activities mainly for the activities outside SE Europe funded through ITF.
