Medical Experts Underwent Training at URI-Soča

ITF is providing capacity building support to rehabilitation institutions in West Bank and Gaza. Conflict-affected societies often do not possess national capabilities in order to provide complicated medical support to victims of conflict. The capacity-building project in cooperation with University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (URI – Soča) is focusing on providing training for medical experts from West Bank.
On 02 September 2019, Ahmed and Mohammed, experts from West Bank, arrived to URI – Soča, where they received advanced training in rehabilitation medicine. Ahmed and Mohammed also underwent a training course last year at URI Soča. This year the training program included production of Knee-Ankle-foot orthosis (KAFO) and Ankle-foot orthosis (AFO), spinal orthoses, production and fitting of lower and upper limb prosthesis.
The aim of the project is building sustainability of national medical capacities through transfer of knowledge. It will enable experts to apply the gained experience to their profession and practice back in West Bank. Training of medical experts was finished on 27 September 2019.
The project is financed by the Republic of Slovenia and Republic of Korea.
