MARASKA – SUCCESSFUL STORY IN CLOSE COOPERATION BETWEEN PRIVATE AND PUBLIC SECTOR

The attendance of the County prefect, the representatives of Maraska, the Municipality of Zemunik Donji and the Croatian Mine Action Centre together with H. E. Mr. Robert Bradtke, the Ambassador of the USA in Croatia was highly presented with the compliments.

Due to constant mine threat which was present at the plantations in the area of Zemunik Donji the orchards have not been used for cultivation of cherries since the end of the war - 1996. The aim of the project was to restore the conditions for cultivation of unique and world-renowned cherry Maraska.

The implementation of technical survey project of mine suspected areas in the area of future cherry plantations "Maraska" in Zadar have been successfully completed. The project was implemented by ITF with donation from the USA and company ""Maraska" d.d.

The technical survey project of the future cherry plantations "Maraska" in Zadar represents a typical example of successful project implementation as the conclusion of the project has created safe environment and conditions for return of IDP's and refugees, the creation of new job opportunities as well as sustainable development of the complete area of Zadar and hinterland.
