ITF Press Conference in Bosnia and Herzegovina

On April 22, 2010 at 12.00pm (local time) International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance ( ITF ) in cooperation with the Embassy of Republic of Slovenia in Bosnia and Herzegovina held the press-conference in Hotel Bosnia in Sarajevo, where ITF representatives Mr. Dorijan Marši?, ITF Director, Mr. Goran Ga?nik ITF Deputy Director and Mr. Roman Turši?, Head of Implementation Office in Sarajevo, presented achievements in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period of 1998-2009 and perspectives according to ITF strategy for 2010-2013.
Mr. Dorijan Marši? pointed out impressive results of ITF in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In period from 1998 - 2009 ITF has implemented over 145 million U.S. dollars of donor funds in Bosnia and Herzegovina for clearing of over 52 milion square meters of minefields. ITF, with the help of 26 countries, many international organizations and private donors achieved the status of the biggest donor for Mine Action in BiH.
"Although the interest of donors to contribute to Mine Action in Bosnia and Herzegovina decreases, the ITF will continue to raise awareness of the existing mine problem. Demining in Bosnia and Herzegovina is of crucial importance for the development of this country, which is reflected in data of BH MAC - that is Bosnia and Herzegovina with 1.555 km2 mine affected areas.“ pointed out Mr Dorijan Marši?, ITF Director at the Press Conference.
