ITF and Kuwait Fund for Development Sign Memorandum of Understanding
The agreement is establishing a framework for strengthened cooperation in humanitarian and development activities and marks an important step in deepening collaboration between the two organizations in support of communities affected by conflict and insecurity.
The Memorandum was signed at the headquarters of KFAED by Mr. Waleed Shamlan Al-Bahar, Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Development, and H.E. Ambassador Tomaž Lovrenčič, Director of ITF Enhancing Human Security. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Aleš Musar, spouse of the President of the Republic of Slovenia.
The agreement establishes a framework for enhanced collaboration between the two organizations in areas aligned with their shared humanitarian and development objectives. Through the partnership, ITF and KFAED will strengthen coordination on projects and activities in conflict-affected regions, support the exchange of expertise and operational knowledge, and promote more effective responses to the needs of affected communities.
Particular emphasis will be placed on humanitarian support for populations impacted by conflict and instability, including projects related to victims of conflict in Ukraine and Syria. The Memorandum also foresees regular consultations, joint participation in seminars and specialized workshops, and the exchange of technical studies and publications relevant to humanitarian assistance, recovery, and sustainable development.
The signing of the Memorandum follows discussions held in September 2025 in New York between the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Crown Prince Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, and the President of the Republic of Slovenia, H.E. Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, where both sides expressed support for strengthening humanitarian cooperation between Kuwait and Slovenia.
Speaking during the meeting, representatives of both organizations highlighted the importance of international partnerships and solidarity at a time when humanitarian needs caused by ongoing conflicts and crises remain exceptionally high.
Through its humanitarian and development programmes, ITF continues to work with international partners to reduce the impact of conflict and insecurity, strengthen local capacities, and support safer and more resilient communities in affected regions worldwide.
