Germany supported demining and technical survey activities in Croatia

Mr Dorijan Marši?, ITF Director, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mr Bernd Fischer, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Croatia, for the donation in amount of 200.000 EUR. MoU was signed on 25 November 2010 in Zagreb and the donation has been earmarked for demining and technical survey project in ?ista Mala Community in Croatia.
The area to be cleared with German donation lies near the ?ista Mala Community in Šibenik Knin County, at the coastal part of Croatia. It includes the arable land, meadows and pastures once valuable for the everyday living in the Community. The total size of project area is 197.594 sq. meters out of which 115.715 sq. meters is intended for demining activities and 81.879 sq meters for technical survey. Mine clearance in this area will increase the safety of the locals and enable access to the land and forest.
The project has been published in the ITF open tender procedure in Croatia, on 26 November, 2010 and demining/technical survey activities are planned for the beginning of January, 2011.
Federal Republic of Germany has altogether donated 25.646.249,32 USD and is one of major ITF donors.
