11th group of Gaza young adults at URI Soca in Slovenia

On 21 November 2014, the eleventh group of 3 young adults from Gaza arrived for the rehabilitation at the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (URI Soča). Young adults were accompanied by 2 companions.
Project is being implemented under the initiative of the former President of Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Danilo Türk and was initially launched in the end of January 2009. Thus far, 106 children from Gaza were rehabilitated and 20 physiotherapists received training at URI Soča. The eleventh group is being supported by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia (Directorate for International Development and Humanitarian Assistance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Republic of Korea.
ITF is implementing the “Gaza project” in cooperation with the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (URI Soča) and includes physical and mental rehabilitation of children/young adults victims of conflict from Gaza and local/national capacity building in the field of rehabilitation.
ITF would like to express gratitude to the Representative Office of RS to the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah, Slovenian Embassy in Tel Aviv and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovenia in Jordan Mr. Issa Haider Murad for logistics support offered during the transportation of Gaza children through Israel to Slovenia and for help offered during visa issuance procedures.
Young adults and companions will stay at URI Soča until 20 December 2014.
