Regional Conference "Quality and Information Management on Explosive Hazards Reduction and Response" held in Kazakhstan

In period 19-21 November 2013, ITF has with the support provided by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, OSCE Centre in Astana and Republic of Korea organized regional conference »Quality and Information Management on Explosive Hazards Reduction and Response« which was hosted by Ministry of Defence Kazakhstan in Almaty. The program was implemented by ITF experts in close cooperation with representatives from OSCE, GICHD, Cranfield University and Small Arms Survey.
During a regional conference with a combination of theoretical lessons and practical exercise, following objectives were addressed:
- Presentation of the Quality Management concepts, capacities and requirements in Explosive Hazards Reduction and Response in the interested States
- Presentation of the Information Management concepts, capacities and requirements in Explosive Hazards Reduction and Response in the interested States
- Identification of synergies between various initiatives and promotion of technical co-operation among interested States and other stakeholders in Explosive Hazards Reduction and Response
The conference falls within an OSCE initiated effort and a system of mechanism to support the participating States in Central Asia and Afghanistan, in addressing the concerns and challenges stemming from Explosive Hazards (EH) through technical cooperation.
Altogether over 45 representatives from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Afghanistan and Mongolia serving in the military and security sector as well as serving in national humanitarian mine action institutions participated. ITF sincerely welcomed Mongolia, a new OSCE member state for participating in our regional initiative for the first time.
Aside to regional conference, ITF has organized and implemented several discussions with representatives of all delegations, discussing the continuation of regional program as well as identifying synergies for bilateral programs.
