The MDC Polyclinic in Kabul Adapts to Current Challenges
The polyclinic, whose medical staff is supported by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through ITF, was initially established in 1989 to support MDC demining teams and their families. Eventually, it expanded the scope of its work and became one of the most important local institutions that offers free services to those with limited access to healthcare, including specialized services for women.
The doctors and staff received additional protective gear and supplies that will allow them as well as their patients to stay safe during the Covid-19 pandemic. They also received special training, focused on raising awareness of the nature, symptoms and spreading of the virus. Along with an additional 20 beds for emergency cases this is vital for the polyclinic to continue providing safe health services to the most vulnerable.
ITF has the utmost respect for the doctors and medical staff of the MDC Polyclinic as well as each and every other medical professional across the globe working hard to help those in need.
